About
La Gioconda - Additional Costumes
This was a huge thrill for me. I was first asked to design the Dance of the Hours that Christopher Wheeldon was choreographing. When Peter Gelb met me he asked me to design all new costumes for the principal singers. Favorite line was after the first tech when Mr. Gelb asked me to work on the tenor because he looked short. He was short (5'3") and very wide. The soprano was 5'8" and as heavy if not more. Strange switch from the land of dancers.
