About This Project

This is the fifth company to perform this ballet after NYCB.

The original for NYCB had to be completed in three weeks. Alexei was trapped in Russia due to visa problems. We communicated via email and came up with costumes evocative of the soviet era, with a warm and intense color scheme. However, the colors were pulled from a stock card as there was not time to dye them as I am accustomed to doing for most ballets. Nevertheless, I think the look of the ballet was successful despite the time crunch.
