About This Project
This is the only ballet credited to me while Jerry was alive. I actually designed 2x3 Part Invention (1994 SAB) but took no credit. It was an honor to be the last designer to work with Jerry.
The only other project after this was when I supervised Les Noces, which was designed by Patricia Zipprodt. This was the last time I worked with Pat as well. After the final tech Jerry turned to the company of dancers and asked them to thank me with their applause. This was one of my favorite NYCB moments. I had the work room finish a rejected red shirt meant for the groom from Les Noces to give to Jerry. It reminded me of Russian style clothing that Jerry wore in the 60's. It was polyester so when Jerry wanted the color changed we had to "throw it out". Ironically, Jerry was cremated in my gift with matching socks. Sad but true. Ellen Sorrin, Director of the Balanchine Trust and board member of the Robbins Estate owns the girl's sketch.

"The evening's highlight, Robbin's "Brandenburg," set to four of Bach's concertos (Nos. 3, 2, 1 and 6), begins with a group dressed in Holly Hynes's pretty peasant costumes and standing in a triangle formation."
