About This Project
Beautiful pastoral costumes...not so great a ballet. The corps woman are rented every winter by Stanford Ballet for their marzipan section of the Nutcracker.
The New York Times
February 4, 1995
"Wendy Whelan, the sole ballerina here, is attended by three swains, Jock Soto, Ethan Stiefel and Damian Woetzel. Like the ensemble women, she is dressed in Holly Hynes's witty miniture versions of an 18th-century pastorial costume, a tutu decorated with mini-panniers."
Anna Kisselgoff
Associated Press
"Most new ballets these days stay away from pretty but Tanner embraced it. The backdrop was a bucolic pastel, with the blur of a tree on each side. Costumes by Holly Hynes were pastel green and pink. The women had puffy pink flowers embroidered on their tutus making them look as fluffy as creampuffs."
