About

Twilight

This was the last ballet created by Ulysses Dove, a wonderful man and a brilliant choreographer. He died before opening night of Aids. The lining of the women's skirts were hand painted silk crepe with doves flying on it. Originally this was the top of the skirt but Ulysses thought it was distracting so I reversed it the night before we opened. I'll always remember three woman in the audience telling me that they saw the doves with their opera glasses. I have very tender memories of this ballet. The original cast was Wendy Whelan, Helene Alexopoulos, Albert Evans and Peter Boal who now runs Pacific Northwest Ballet.
